Well, I recently did a project for Bible class on an endangered or threatened species so I did mine on the great white shark. I basically told my class and friends all about great white sharks, including attacks. I told them there is no 25 foot great white shark swimming around trying to eat you. Most attacks are mistaken identity. If you're wearing a full black wetsuit and a shark sees you, it is going to think "Oh, its a seal. I'll go eat it." Once it takes a bite and realizes what its biting is NOT a seal, it will swim away. People attacked by sharks die from BLOOD LOSSS, NOT being eaten. So I spent a long time telling people this to calm their fears about being attacked by a great white and learn to see them as the magnificent animal they are and they need to be protected. And what happens the next day?............... A FRIGGIN GREAT WHITE SHARK FATALLY ATTACKS A SWIMMER!!!!! I am SO going to hear it at my next bible class. And it doesn't help the article was on the front page of the friggin paper. Good god, SHARKS ARE NOT BAD!!!! Stop making them seem like they are! And I'm not surprised the guy got attacked considering HE WAS WEARING A BLACK WETSUIT!!!! Come on peoples, it was mistaken identity! Okay, so the shark made a little mistake and killed somebody. It's not his fault!!!!! So stop making it seem that way!!! And what's the point with lifegaurds looking for the shark that did it? 1: How in the world are you going to track down a great white shark in the huge ocean, 2: How would you know if it was the shark who did it, and 3: What are they going to do with the shark if they even find it? Great white sharks are legally protected in the United States, so they can't kill it. Argh, it makes me pissed off the bad rep the poor shrks are getting. They need help! The great white populaton has decreased by 90%!!!! They obviously need some help!!!! Sorry for ranting, but I just really like the great white and wish more people would see it as the magnificent animal it is. (okay, now I'm sounding stupid) So basically what I am saying is......GREAT WHITE SHARKS ARE NOT BAD!!!!!
